A great starting point for children who are still developing the basic skills needed to control a pencil.
With 64 pages of guided stroke practice, Stage 1 focuses on straight lines, horizontal lines, slanting lines, curves and simple patterns.
Holding a pencil and controlling a pencil are two different skills. A child may be able to hold a pencil but still find it difficult to stay on a line, control direction, stop at the right point or move their hand smoothly.
The guided lines and grooves give your child a clear path to follow, making practice more structured than simply handing them a blank sheet of paper and asking them to draw.
With repeated practice, children get opportunities to work on hand control, direction, consistency and smoother pencil movements as these early skills develop.
